The Challenge

In honor of Lunar New Year, Foot Locker wanted to top their campaign from the year prior to celebrate the customers in the Los Angeles and Northern California markets. The objectives were to celebrate a poignant cultural moment while also increasing brand awareness and most importantly, driving in store sales within a short period of time.

The Solution

It was important to our creative and production team that the Lunar New Year campaign was authentic to Foot Locker’s brand from the decor design all the way through to the giveaway items. We designed a Gift With Purchase (GWP) campaign that simultaneously stretched across 4 retail stores across both Southern and Northern California. The multiple locations allowed for brand amplification across different communities while leveraging key economies of scale in the production process. 

Items in the GWP campaign were carefully selected to reflect the New Year celebration, provide a small insight into the cultural nuances, and also directly supported neighboring AAPI owned businesses with gift card purchases. The GWP campaign was amplified with beautiful store decor that drew guests in and a DJ at key locations to set the mood. GreatCo’s team also collaborated closely with the mall teams to further drive traffic to the Foot Locker stores during the weekend. All factors of the campaign contributed towards a successful marketing activation that truly served the customer and recognized the AAPI communities.
